Addons are programs that will help you with pretty much everything in the game. There's an addon for everything you can imagine. Questing, the Auction House, Raiding, fishing, chatting, Unit frames, guilds, addons can be found that makes these aspects of the game more pleasurable. And the best part is, it's all legal.
You might have seen players leveling to 85 within just a few days while you were stuck on level 32 asking yourself how they do it. The answer is Addons. In order to play the game at its max level, you need this. If you want to join a top level guild they will most likely have a list of which addons they need you to download in order to get approved. These addons will help you on bosses, they will tell you how much DPS you're doing so you don't take agro from the tank and everything to make the encounter foolproof.
The Addons are 100% legal and encouraged by some of the blizzard Game Masters. The only site you should use for this is Curse, this is the only site where you're save to download anything, they got about 99% of the ones that you can get and it's the site which most players use, because you're downloading it, some goldsellers/hackers have created fake-addon sites where they install a keylogger on your computer, so be safe and just use the only 100% trusted site.
Most addons are free, but the very best which helps you leveling or giving you the latest gold strategies do cost some, I personally got some of these and they are really worth it.
Some people are skeptical or just careful, but just ask anyone in the game, I'd say about 60% of all players use at least 1 addon. Anyways once you decide to get your hands on it, you will probably wonder which ones to get. I'll make a list of some of my favourites below.
1. Auctioneer
2. Deadly Boss Mod
3. Recount
4. Cooldown Counter
5. SmartRes
6. Quest Helper
These are the basic ones that you should look into.
If you're reading this you are probably "Thottbotting" every quest that you get right now, which I did for about two years before finding this. There are several video tutorials on youtube that can help you install the Addons. Good luck questing, level 85 is waiting for you!
